Excellent local shop
Ever gone into a hardware mega-store only to find although they appear to have lots of products they just don't happen to stock what you need ? Try calling Goodwin & Sons before you set off in the car....

Proper Hardware Shop
Great shop. They'll sell you piece of wood 2 feet long if that's what you need, and they'll cut you anything from stock. A proper (dare I say it! ) old fashioned builders merchant/diy shop.

A most helpful hardware (and much more) store/ woodyard/ funeral director. Been around for years. Prices same or lower than the big stores, and they'll happily serve you half a dozen screws of a particular size, not a plastic pack of 500, if that's what you need!

Goodwins, brilliant shop
brilliant shop, really good value, only place I know where you can buy washers, screws bolts etc in quantities of one,
